The aerstent® GWA Guide Wire is a single-use 0.035-inch PTFE-coated nitinol guide wire engineered by Leufen Medical (a bess group company, Germany) to complement the aerstent® airway stent delivery systems. Designed to provide excellent trackability, stability and control during airway stent placement, the aerstent® GWA features a kink-resistant nitinol core, low-friction PTFE coating and a highly flexible radiopaque tip for smooth navigation through the airway. Colour-coded variants also simplify identification of the right and left main bronchi during Y-Carina stent procedures.

How Placement Works:
The aerstent® GWA is pre-loaded into a spiral dispenser with an insertion aid, allowing smooth and controlled introduction into the airway. Its PTFE coating reduces friction throughout the procedure, while the nitinol monofilament core provides excellent resistance to kinking without compromising flexibility.
For Y-Carina stent implantation, colour-coded guide wires allow physicians to distinguish between the right and left main bronchi during placement, improving procedural efficiency and positioning accuracy. The manufacturer also recommends flushing the dispenser with sterile saline before use to further enhance the guide wire’s gliding properties.
